Cake tin

The Cake Tin model is a short board for smaller waves for the surfer who wants to get air and bring a more skateboard-style approach to their surfing.

Quite flat out, the tail and straight outline make it really fast and hold well through barrels. It is great for taking off under the lip and straight into the tube. Its performance nose rocker and width balance the flatter tail, helping it fit nicely in the pocket for whipping it into an off-the-lip wack.

It has a deep single into a deep double, vee out the tail, which puts a nice bit of curve into the rails, helping it to loosen up out of its flat stringer line.

It's mostly built with a square chop tail, but in the pic, I made it into a step swallow to test the difference and liked it. It would go well with a step-round tail. Eps/Epoxy construction is another winner for the Cake tin, taking it to that next level of speed and whippiness.

It's a great board that you can get hooked on and surf in all conditions up to 4 ft. Some like the challenge in bigger slabbing waves. I’ve been making the Cake Tin since 2012 and it is still a favourite for some.

I am 5.10 and ride my Cake tin at 5.6 by 19 1/4 by 2 5/16. All boards are custom-made to suit each individual.
